Review: The movie premiere of Royal Hibiscus Hotel.

On Sunday 4th of February, the movie premiere for Royal Hibiscus Hotel, took place at the prestigious Civic center in Lagos, and guess who was there? Me!!! I must tell you, It was superb! Although I was there for work, I had time to feed my eyes (and mouth) with the beautiful scenery of the venue, and let me tell you, the Ebonylife team do know how to throw a good party. There was so much food, music and pomp! Little portions of h’orderves served by gracious waiters and enough drinks to go round for everyone, celebrities clad in amazing outfits and music to keep you on your feet.

Interview section

I’ll start from the red carpet, which apparently aired live. The organization of the red carpet was the best I have seen yet. The carpet was divided into two sections, one for interviews and the other for pictures. There were lovely ladies, who ushered us around so we didn’t disrupt the flow of interviews. These ladies were dressed as Greek maidens with wreaths of flowers on their head and gladiator sandals to match their white ensemble. Next after breezing through tons of presenters and interviews (Hi Denrele, Tosin Odunfa and Dr. Idia), was the picture-taking section of the carpet where celebs and guests worked magic for the cameras. While on the red carpet, the fabulous and ever stunning Mo Abudu (Aunty Mo) arrived to usher in Adams Oshiomole, Femi Otedola, Aliko Dangote and their entourage. I must say, Aunty Mo was the most gracious host that night. She went round to say hello to everyone, took pictures and complimented everyone, and even danced with a few while looking snatched in her custom Lanre Da-Silva dress. Fifty never looked so good guys.

On getting into the space designed for the reception, there were lounge seats arranged beautifully in front of the stage. On the side of that, were various food stands manned by notable chefs and kitchen-houses (Hi Chef Eros, Chef Fregz & Heels in Kitchen). Unfortunately, I didn’t get to taste any of what they had because I was full from all the delicious cake and mini burgers I was served at the Love lounge. At the end of that area was Ciroc’s stand where they served out drinks rapidly. Guys, the best part was that all of the food and drinks were free for guest. It was the best party ever, I can’t stop saying that.

The reception, with Tiwa Savage on stage.

At this point, Tiwa Savage was on stage after performing an incredible duet with Reekado Banks. She performed live without backup singers or dancers and she looked so incredible in her flowery Lanre Da-Saliva dress, with no jewelry. At the entrance into the buiding, was the Johnny Rocket stand. If not that I made a personal decision to stay off alcohol that weekend, I would have sampled all the drinks available that night! I stepped into the Civic center building and I was amazed! The entire place had been designed to suit the love-themed occasion. There were love lounges everywhere including the top floor. The decor was plush and smooth. The love lounge consisted of a table with cushioned chairs, some had two while some had more. Waiters literally assaulted me with trays of h’orderves, It seems they were told, “if you see anyone’s mouth not moving, go to him or her and serve food”. Upstairs, notable food vendors such as Hans & Rene, Baileys, Barton & Guestier red wine & Loshes chocolate, had set up at the dessert lounge, so it was easy to get anything. There were celebrities were everywhere. It was impossible to be star struck yo! It was like being on IG, lol.

The Royal Hibiscus movie premiere is one of the best events I have attended in recent times. It was a proper party, and the intricate planning and organization was obvious and clearly paid off. I give major kudos to Aunty Mo & the entire Ebonylife family for a premiere so fabulous. My only regret, was that I didn’t get to take as many pictures as I wanted due to the fact that I was there for work. Oh well, there’ll be more premieres. *wink*

Thanks for reading guys, I hope I was able to paint a mental picture of the event with my review. I’d love to know your thoughts, so feel free to leave a comment in the comment box. Love always
